Syncerus Care Anaesthesia Dr Andre

Dr André Theron

André was born in Kroonstad, South Africa. In 2007 he obtained his MBCHB from the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein.
Thereafter he completed a two-year medical internship in Bethlehem South Africa. He stayed on in the region as medical officer for another two years. He finished his anaesthesiology training in 2016 at the University of the Free State.

André remained as junior anaesthesiology consultant at UFS until he got the chance in 2018-2019 to do a Fellowship in Acute Pain and Perioperative Medicine at the Universitaire Ziekenhuis (Gasthuisberg Campus, UZL) in Leuven, Belgium.

André has a passion for teaching regional anaesthesia and since finishing as anaesthesiologist he has been involved in numerous regional anaesthesia teaching and training workshops, both nationally and internationally. He has also served on the executive committee of the South African Society of Regional Anaesthesia. Currently he is working in aprivate practice in George, South Africa.

Dr Gwen Morgan

Gwen is originally from Johannesburg, where she completed her undergraduate medical degree at the Wits University. 

She spent 2007 with the Centre for Aviation, Space and Extreme Environment Medicine (CASE) at University College London, working as a research assistant on the Caudwell Xtreme Everest project, doing data collection at Everest Base Camp and then data analysis in London before returning to South Africa to commence her Specialist Anaesthesiology training. After completing her specialisation at Wits, she set up an anaesthetic training program in a very rural district of South Africa before entering private practice in George. 

Gwen has special interests in Regional Anaesthesia, ethics and the environment. She was awarded her MSc in the Principles of Regional Anaesthesia from the University of East Anglia with Distinction. Gwen is the Immediate Past Chair of the South African Society of Regional Anaesthesiology (SASRA), the current Convenor of the Sustainability Committee of the South African Society of Anaesthesiology (SASA) and has been elected to serve on the Sustainability Committee of the World Federation of Society of Anaesthetists. Gwen is an ultra-trail runner, vocal performer and mother of two daughters.

Dr Nadine Venter

Nadine was born and raised in Pretoria. In 2011, she obtained her MBCHB  from the University of Pretoria. She completed internship and community service at Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg, where she stayed on as a medical officer.

She worked in the emergency department as a medical officer for ER consulting where she was the head of the Vereeniging Mediclinic Emergency Unit before returning to her first love of Anaesthesiology in 2016. 

She worked in the Anaesthesiology Department at Baragwanath Academic Hospital as a medical officer in 2017 and started her Specialist Anaesthesiology training at Wits University in 2018. Once she completed her specialisation, she entered private practice and joined Syncerus in 2023. 

Nadine is passionate about continuous education and providing patients with comprehensive perioperative care with a special interest in Regional Anaesthesia.
